Midlands Paddling school is a place for kids and adults of all experience levels to learn how to paddle. Our clubhouse is on my private farm, Kusana Valley Farm on the Curry's Post road, but I also meet clients to paddle on Midmar Dam, the Lion's River and a variety of locations throughout KZN. In the spring and summer months, our guppy squad training becomes popular for youngsters starting or wanting to prepare for KZN and National school sprint and marathon events. We are well equipped with a variety of boats suitable to different paddling disciplines, as well as paddles and safety equipment. We promote a spirit of bravery, resilience and adventure while taking safety precautions seriously. The school is run by me, Kyle Friedenstein.

I started paddling at a young age, growing up in East London in the Eastern Cape my main exposure to paddling was in the ocean. I am extremely passionate about the sport and throughout my life, it has kept me fit, connected me to the outdoors and been a way to quench my adventurous spirit.

For a time, while I was running the Surfski School in Cape Town, I was fortunate enough to coach paddlers of all skill levels, from complete beginners tackling their first small ocean swells to seasoned athletes honing their technique for offshore races.
